GPC's“Quality Products + Premium Services”Deployed in Guangxi Banana Growing Areas
In the golden autumn season, contiguous banana plantations in Chongzuo, Guangxi enter the harvest period. Bunches of plump bananas hang on the trees, and harvesting, sorting and packaging proceed in an orderly manner at the bases. Leveraging its high-tower nitro-sulfur-based compound fertilizer and customized nutrition programmes for bananas, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group (GPC) helps boost the quality and efficiency of the local banana industry.
With a banana planting area exceeding 1.1 million acres and an annual output of over 3.2 million tonnes, Guangxi ranks second nationwide in banana production. Banana cultivation serves as a key specialty industry for rural revitalization and raising farmers’ income in southwestern Guangxi. Taking into account the growth traits of bananas, GPC has developed a series of high-tower nitro-sulfur-based compound fertilizers based on its phosphate rock resources and R&D innovation platforms.

The product adopts the high-tower granulation process, featuring uniform granules and high water solubility, and is compatible with drip irrigation and water-fertilizer integrated systems. Nitrate nitrogen can be directly absorbed by banana roots, while ammonium nitrogen delivers long-term nutrient supply, striking a balance between fast-acting and slow-release nutrients. Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group implements full-chain quality control covering raw material mining, production processes and finished product delivery. Supported by its production capacity layout and scheduling capability, the Group ensures stable supply for the Guangxi region during peak fertilizer application seasons.
Beyond fertilizer products, GPC AgriService team has developed exclusive banana nutrition programmes based on local soil test results and banana growth patterns.

Centered on soil improvement, the programmes advocate the rational application of organic fertilizers and optimize the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Water and fertilizer supply is dynamically adjusted for different growth stages of bananas. The timing of potassium fertilizer application is appropriately advanced, and the proportion of fertilizer applied during flower bud differentiation is increased. Targeted supplementation of deficient secondary and trace elements such as calcium, magnesium and boron is arranged to achieve soil acid regulation and precise nutrient supply, aligning with Guangxi’s industrial initiative to promote scientific fertilization and water-fertilizer integration. Implemented under the principle of “one strategy for one site, one solution for one crop”, the programmes help growers move away from extensive, experience-based fertilization practices.
Growers who switched to the high-tower nitro-sulfur-based compound fertilizer together with the customized nutrition programmes reported that bananas develop stronger root systems and sturdier plants with improved lodging resistance and waterlogging tolerance. Larger fruit diameter, better appearance and enhanced taste are also achieved. Some growers have voluntarily shared their experience with neighbouring peers, encouraging more farmers to adopt GPC’s product portfolio.
“We will leverage our full-industry-chain R&D and production strengths, optimize our fertilizer product portfolio and continuously upgrade crop nutrition solutions to meet the development needs of specialty crops in Guangxi. We will strengthen our agronomic service system and deepen collaboration with distributors and growers to spread the concept of scientific fertilization to more farmers. Our efforts will support the high-quality development of Guangxi’s specialty agriculture, growth in farmers’ income and comprehensive rural revitalization,” said a relevant official from GPC.
