The development history of every enduring enterprise is a chronicle of forging ahead amid hardships. For Kailin, the second‑round venture launched in 1988 marked a pivotal turning point for the enterprise to overcome difficulties and achieve transformation and upgrading.

From 1988 to 1995, over eight full years, all staff of Kailin united as one, worked diligently under austere conditions, and channeled all available resources into the development of phosphorus‑processing industry.

While pooling efforts to tackle tough challenges, Kailin kept deep‑driving technological innovation and achieved landmark scientific research outcomes. On December 7, 1990, the Bolt‑Supported Roof Sublevel Open‑Stop Mining Method developed by Kailin won the First‑class Prize of the National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress at the National Science and Technology Conference. This technology successfully resolved the worldwide technical challenge of mining medium‑thick gently‑inclined ore bodies. It lifted ore recovery rate from 50% to over 70%, and reduced dilution rate from 13% to below 6%.

After the eight‑year arduous campaign, Kailin kept expanding its industrial layout. In January 1999, construction kicked off for the 60 000‑ton MAP project at Kailin Xifeng Superphosphate Plant, symbolizing the plant’s shift toward diversified product development. In the same year, Sheng Huaren, then Director‑General of the State Economic and Trade Commission, led a delegation to inspect China’s five major phosphate fertilizer production bases (including Wengfu Base). He pointed out that state‑subsidized interest loans should be granted to support the construction of Kaiyang Phosphate Mine projects.

With extended industrial chains and optimized industrial layout, Kailin’s development achievements earned high‑level recognition from Guizhou provincial authorities. In November 2007, Shi Zongyuan, then Secretary of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, paid an inspection visit to Kailin Xifeng Phosphorus‑Chemical Base. He remarked: “I am delighted and inspired by what I have witnessed on‑site at Kailin today. As a province rich in resources, Guizhou needs to translate resource advantages into economic strengths, develop circular economy, extend industrial chains, and blaze an industrial path with Guizhou characteristics. At Kailin, I see the hope for this goal.”
