At 15:00 on August 7, freight train No.48006 carrying more than 1,100 tons of chemical fertilizers departed from Dashuigou Station in Kaiyang County and arrived at the pre‑positioned warehouse at Gaimao Station in Guiyang. This marks the official roll‑out of the new "Transport‑Warehouse‑Distribution" model for Guizhou railway agricultural‑material logistics.

"Transport‑Warehouse‑Distribution" refers to an integrated end‑to‑end logistics service covering transportation, warehousing and distribution. As one of the core offerings for railway freight transformation, it represents a shift from the traditional "trunk‑only, station‑to‑station" service toward full‑scope supply‑chain contracting and "door‑to‑door" delivery.

"In the past, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group relied on the conventional rail‑water intermodal transport. Goods were first shipped by rail to ports in Chongqing or Guangxi, then delivered to destinations via waterway. The whole journey took around 50 days. Such long lead time and slow response could hardly meet today’s fast‑paced market demands," according to an official from Guiyang Railway Logistics Center.

To address this bottleneck, railway authorities have innovated the "Transport‑Warehouse‑Distribution" model. Pre‑positioned warehouses are set up to stock enterprise goods for rapid order‑driven shipment. Water‑borne transit and port transshipment links are eliminated, opening up direct railway routes from Guiyang to key markets including Guangzhou in South China and Harbin in Northeast China. Under the new model, transit time is drastically cut from 50 days to 10 days, representing an over 80 % improvement in speed. Estimates show that approximately RMB 600,000 in transportation costs can be saved between now and the end of the year.

"With the railway’s 'Transport‑Warehouse‑Distribution' solution, we have gained far greater flexibility in cargo deployment and much faster shipment response. Long‑standing operational pain points such as slow inventory turnover and lengthy transit cycles have finally been effectively alleviated," said a relevant official of Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group. The model helps the enterprise mitigate inventory overstock risks and substantially lower operating costs.

The successful dispatch of over 1,100 tons of chemical fertilizers constitutes a promising pilot, as well as a dual upgrade of logistics approaches and supply‑chain services. The "Transport‑Warehouse‑Distribution" model not only connects the "last‑mile" of fertilizer transportation and achieves dynamic balance between cargo stockpiling and delivery, but also acts as a new powerhouse for railway authorities to serve the real economy, advance win‑win railway‑enterprise cooperation and support enterprises in tackling operational challenges.
